Canada may be smaller, but we're proportionally more wired than our neighbors to the south with a whopping 22,000,000 Canadian Internet Users accounting for 68% of our total population. With that many internet users, it’s no wonder there were approximately 44.9 million orders placed electronically by Canadians with 57% of them going to Canadian Online Vendors as opposed to our U.S. competitors.

Unfortunately on the sales side, despite the high demand for Canadian Retailers in cyberspace, Canadian businesses have been slow to adopt the web as a sales and marketing channel. Only 15% of Canadian businesses are selling online.

If you’re still part of the 85% not selling online, you’re missing out on a share of a 5-billion dollar pie. For every $100.00 Canadian Dollars spent online, $63.00 of it went to a Canadian Online Vendor; far too big a number to ignore.

Don’t have a product or service that can be sold online? Your business can still benefit from having an online catalog supported by helpful content. 9.2 Million Adult Canadians “Window-Shopped” online for goods and services with 6 out of every 10 of them subsequently making a purchase from a retailer directly.

All in all, with so few Canadian online retail contenders and so much room for growth there’s never been a better time to get your business on the web. If you don’t know where to start, there are lots of resources online where you can ask questions, get help on choosing a web design company, or just find out more about getting your business on the web.
