Meet Presentation High School
Presentation High School is San Jose, California’s preeminent, inclusive Catholic college preparatory school serving young women in Grades 9 through 12. Academic excellence is just one aspect of a Pres journey, which cultivates each students’ intellectual, social, personal and spiritual growth while pushing boundaries in STEM, athletics, arts, and leadership.
The Challenge
In Silicon Valley’s bustling and highly competitive market, innovation reigns supreme. While Pres – established in 1962 – has a proud and storied history of brilliance, its voice was getting lost in the crowd. They brought Metric in to help re-define their brand for the 21st century and cut through the noise so right-fit families may find their place at Pres.
The Strategy
Pres opened their vault of market research and we dove right in, consolidating years of credible data to understand what makes Pres special and their audiences tick. Our own proprietary market research provided additional context, so we could identify how the school really stands apart in the market. These insights came together in a data-driven assessment outlining Pres’ brand strengths and challenges, market perceptions, audience profiles and behaviour, competitive positioning, and opportunities for compelling and authentic messaging that engages right-fit families’ hearts and minds.
After securing enthusiastic buy-in from key Pres stakeholders, we set to work putting data into action. Our first steps involved crafting a Brand Guide that encapsulated all the information their team might need to execute the brand consistently and effectively. Along with updated logo standards and visual brand elements, this asset includes detailed guidance on internal and audience-facing messaging, brand tone, pillars and positioning.
The Execution
The beauty – and measure – of an effective Brand Guide is how easily it streamlines all the tactics that follow. In Pres’ case, this benefit was instantaneous.
We started with a viewbook – the physical manifestation of a school’s promise, culture, and specific programming. Guided by the newly defined Pres brand, and bolstered by our collaborative and trusted relationship with their team, the project’s direction, copywriting, design, and delivery flowed seamlessly to create a viewbook that tells Pres’ story in a consistent, compelling, and authentic way.
Our cumulative brand, industry, and client knowledge next extended to executions designed to introduce the Pres to the wider community – and reintroduce it to those already engaged, including alumni and their families, board members, donors, volunteers, and staff.

The Results
In addition to informing and streamlining these tactics, the foundational work we did with Pres – supported by the Brand Guide – armed their team with the data-backed tool they need to make informed choices, back-up their decisions, and work more efficiently with confidence in the effectiveness of their work.
In our first year in market together, we saw these wins:

Pres’s goal was to increase enrolled students by 12% this year – and they met & exceeded their goal by 104%
16%
of campaign leads completed an application and 90% were offered admission to the school (qualified leads)
63%
increase year over year in engaged website sessions (with 20% of sessions driven from paid channels)
31%
of website form submissions were completed with a paid channel attribution – of those, 16% applied and 6% enrolled at the school
10%
Pres saw a 10% increase in deposits being made in the first 5 days after offers were accepted – a great sign that the families we found were excited and motivated
